Summary
The Product Manager, Content Sales Planning is accountable for driving the success of Content Sales Planning capabilities by partnering deeply with business stakeholders and leading day-to-day collaboration with cross-functional technical delivery teams. This role shapes the product vision and roadmap with Business and Technology Sponsors, converts business priorities into an actionable backlog with measurable outcomes, and ensures delivery increments produce incremental business value through continuous discovery, delivery, and adoption.
Key Responsibilities
1) Business Engagement & Stakeholder Partnership (Primary Focus)
Serve as the primary engagement lead for Content Sales stakeholders and business SMEs building trusted relationships, running working sessions, and aligning leaders on outcomes, priorities, and tradeoffs.
Facilitate the elicitation, analysis, documentation, and organization of product requirements and OKRs into a clear, concise, actionable backlog focused on incremental business value.
Maintain deep empathy for end users and represent their workflows and pain points throughout the lifecycle, ensuring the solution supports real-world planning, forecasting, and deal/rights-related workflows.
Drive clarity on business definitions and decisions (e.g., data definitions, business logic, user controls), ensuring a consistent product experience and shared understanding across business and technical teams.
2) Close Partnership with Product Resources and Extended Technical Teams (Design, Engineering, Architecture, QA, Tech SMEs)
Guide cross-functional execution by partnering with Architecture, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Program/Delivery leadership to identify, evaluate, and integrate technical solutions into the product roadmap.
Collaborate closely with the Technical Delivery Team (e.g., Scrum Master and Engineers) and Functional Team (UX, Product Managers, Business Analysts) to deliver solutions that meet user needs, business goals, and technical/architecture standards.
Work with Tech SMEs who βbridge the gapβ between existing systems and delivery podsβleveraging their knowledge of dependencies, integration points, and constraints to shape realistic scope and sequencing.
Partner with business analysts who act as a bridge between business and tech teams, supporting continuous collaboration, discovery, delivery, and refinement of user stories.
Contribute to delivery practices that drive value early and often (build/test/deploy), aligning priorities to iterative release cycles in partnership with the development team.
3) Product Strategy, Roadmap, and Release Planning
Define the strategic product vision and roadmap for Content Sales Planning in partnership with Business and Technology Sponsors.
Prioritize features into a realistic, rationalized release plan based on a prioritized backlog, balancing business urgency, technical feasibility, and delivery capacity.
Evaluate and recommend product innovations and enhancements that maximize ROI and drive measurable business value.
4) User Acceptance, Adoption, and Change Enablement
Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure validation cycles are aligned to business readiness and release timelines.
Partner with Change Management to drive adoption through hands-on training, communication, and stakeholder feedback loops.
5) Outcomes, Metrics, and Ongoing Value Realization
Define clear OKRs
Provide product oversight to ensure consistency in data definitions, business logic, and overall product experience across releases.
Communicate progress, risks, and decisions with transparency, ensuring stakeholder alignment across business and technical teams.
Required Qualifications / Experience
Demonstrated experience defining and managing business requirements and outcomes with business partners, and working with technical teams to integrate features into a product roadmap.
Experience writing detailed epics/user stories with measurable acceptance criteria and operating in Agile delivery approaches.
Experience working in cross-matrixed teams with multiple workstreams and integration points; able to present complex technical information clearly to varied audiences and senior stakeholders.
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and non-technical partners.
