Position: Sr. Product Owner
Location: Reston, VA #HYBRID (1days in a week)

Job Description:

Drives value to the business by building, managing and maintaining Product Backlog(s) in collaboration with IT teams, based on magnitude, scope and complexity.
Represents the business to the team, and defines business value for them.
Defines the details of what is being done and the overall scope of the project that builds the product offering. Ensures that
acceptance criteria is well-defined.
Plays a key role in shaping the direction of the product.in feature creation, user story writing and collaboratively innovating through Joint Application Development (JAD) and other brainstorming sessions.

• The client is seeking a Senior Product Owner with proven AI experience who will take full accountability for building, managing, and optimizing the product backlog for healthcare claims solutions, enhancing and maintaining existing products while supporting new AI-driven product development.
• The ideal candidate must have prior healthcare claims insurance product experience and serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, working closely with data teams, Business Analysts, architects, technologists, SMEs, and business owners to translate business value into a clear Product Vision, Roadmap, well-defined acceptance criteria, epics, features, and user stories.
• In this role, 80% of the responsibility will involve leading cross-functional teams—including Business Analysts, Architects, and SMEs—to innovate through JAD sessions and author high-quality epics and features while owning and prioritizing the product backlog, determining business value, defining acceptance criteria, accepting or rejecting deliverables, and remaining accountable for the product's success.
• Another 10% will focus on using strong Agile and Scrum leadership to guide Business Analysts in breaking down the MVP (Minimum Viable Product) into actionable, well-written user stories, coaching new team members, mentoring other Product Owners, improving grooming and delivery agility, and managing relationships and communications with internal and external clients.
• The remaining 10% focuses on driving organizational change by coaching team members in Scrum and Agile practices to improve delivery agility, while also engaging stakeholders and customers, leading JAD and brainstorming sessions, supporting production-stage needs, and managing multiple AI use cases across existing and newly developed healthcare claims products.
• Certified Scrum or Certified Agile Product Owner PO certification Required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree (Product Management, Engineering, Information Technology or related field)
• 6 years IT and business analysis, business development, solutions development, systems analysis, technical design/development, implementation OR
• 4 years product owner experience
• Knowledge of business and management principles., Advanced
• Strong Microsoft Office Suite ability., Advanced
• Knowledge of project planning and life cycle development., Advanced
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal., Advanced
• Ability to recognize, analyze and solve a variety of problems., Advanced
