About This Role:

In this role you will be responsible for defining and owning parts and accessories offerings that complement and add value to the Det-Tronics brand of Fire and Gas Detection Systems. Review, rationalize and revitalize the existing parts & accessories portfolio and work with the business stakeholders to define and execute the product portfolio multi-year strategy development & execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns and drives the product lifecycle management and the P&L for parts and accessories, including maximizing the recommended parts and accessories attach on quotations
  • Identifies and partners with third-party suppliers to expand our total solution offerings
  • Be the point person for 3rd party products (commercial and technical)
  • Proactively adds and maintains pricing and cost in ERP system on parts & accessories
  • Establish standard lead times with vendors
  • Publish and maintain a 3rd party catalog and price list
  • Research and determine which standard SKUs should be offered
  • Work with vendors to create literature/datasheets with Det-Tronics contact information and branding, and incorporate in our product catalog
  • Research and add new product lines to the portfolio based on market demands
  • Conduct internal and external training on parts and accessories including 3rd party products and how/when/what to quote
  • Provide inputs to the Systems product manager on what 3rd party products should be integrated on our systems including any necessary system performance certification requirements
  • Be critical about SKU proliferation and lead SKU rationalization
  • Partner to ensure that training, marketing material, etc., communicate product value & differentiation in a compelling way

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years’ product development experience
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time


Preferred Qualifications:

Other qualifications you may have that would be beneficial in this role include:

  • Significant experience developing product road maps and executing product development plans
  • Demonstrated aptitude in leveraging human-centered design principles to deliver customer-focused products and solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in flame and gas detection or other sensing industries
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code
  • Knowledge of Industrial Automation and Control Systems (e.g. DCS, PLC, SIS, ESD), Certified Fire and Gas Safety Systems, Fire Alarm and Extinguishing Systems
  • Entrepreneurial and innovative with a strategic mindset
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of the organization
  • An executive presence with polished and well-developed facilitation, written and oral communication skills, demonstrating creativity and technical expertise
  • Assertive and confident with a strong point of view while able to understand/empathize and support other perspectives. Intent on building trusting and collaborative partnerships/relationships
  • Well-versed in all aspects of product lifecycle management & development
  • Strong business acumen, including a solid understanding of financial analysis methods
