We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Manager / Business Analyst to join our team in New York. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working within Municipal Finance, capital markets, or financial services, with a solid understanding of banking products, processes, and technology. Candidates with direct Municipal Finance experience are strongly preferred; however, candidates with substantial Banking or Financial Services domain experience and a strong product management/business analysis background will also be considered.

The successful candidate will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders, technology teams, and senior leadership, translating complex business requirements into clear product strategies, functional requirements, and technology solutions. This role will be responsible for defining product roadmaps, gathering and prioritizing requirements, managing stakeholders, and driving initiatives from concept through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead product management and business analysis activities for financial services and banking-related products and platforms.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, technology teams, and senior leadership to define business objectives and product requirements.
  • Gather, analyze, document, and prioritize functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps, backlogs, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business requirements documentation.
  • Translate complex financial and business processes into clear requirements and actionable technology solutions.
  • Work closely with engineering, architecture, QA, data, and UX teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, process mapping exercises, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Identify opportunities to improve business processes, operational efficiency, data quality, and customer/user experiences.
  • Manage competing priorities and ensure product initiatives remain aligned with business strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and root-cause analysis to support product and technology decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define KPIs, success criteria, and product performance metrics.
  • Support UAT planning, test-case development, defect triage, and business sign-off.
  • Present product strategies, requirements, status, risks, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, and impediments and drive issues through resolution.
  • Support Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, and retrospectives.

Municipal Finance Experience – Preferred

Candidates with experience in Municipal Finance / Public Finance are highly preferred. Relevant experience may include:

  • Municipal bonds and fixed-income securities.
  • Public finance transactions and issuance processes.
  • Municipal bond trading, sales, or underwriting.
  • Credit analysis and municipal credit products.
  • Primary and secondary municipal markets.
  • Bond pricing, valuation, and market data.
  • Trade lifecycle and post-trade processing.
  • Municipal issuers, advisors, underwriters, and institutional investors.
  • Financial data, reference data, and security master platforms.
  • Regulatory and compliance requirements associated with municipal securities.
  • Platforms supporting municipal bond trading, underwriting, settlement, or reporting.

Banking / Financial Services Experience

If direct Municipal Finance experience is not available, candidates should have strong experience within Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Asset Management, Investment Banking, or other Financial Services environments.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Manager, Senior Business Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role within financial services.
  • Strong understanding of banking and financial services business processes.
  • Demonstrated experience gathering and translating complex business requirements into technology solutions.
  • Strong experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product development lifecycles.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps, user stories, acceptance criteria, business requirements, and functional specifications.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and managing multiple priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct Municipal Finance / Public Finance experience.
  • Experience with municipal bonds or fixed-income products.
  • Capital markets product management or business analysis experience.
  • Knowledge of trading, order management, trade lifecycle, settlement, or financial market platforms.
  • Experience working with financial or market data.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile/product management tools.
  • Experience working with APIs, data platforms, or enterprise financial applications.
  • Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, or risk initiatives.
  • CFA, PMP, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a senior-level Product Manager / Business Analyst who understands financial services and can operate comfortably between business and technology teams. Direct Municipal Finance experience is the strongest fit, particularly experience with municipal securities, fixed income, trading, or public finance workflows. Candidates without Municipal Finance experience should demonstrate strong banking domain knowledge, financial product expertise, and a proven track record delivering technology products or complex business initiatives within a financial institution.

Strong communication, executive presence, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate complex financial requirements into actionable product solutions are essential.
