The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst/Product Owner to join our Corporate IT team based in our Farmington, CT office or remotely nationwide. A member of an Agile Development team, the Senior Business Analyst/Product Owner brings value to an organization by ensuring strategic alignment between business needs and technical solutions, successfully delivering high-quality products. The Senior Business Analyst/Product Owner fosters strong stakeholder relationships and collaborates with business partners to define product features necessary to support their needs and deliver value to their customers.Β  The role is responsible for product development through the software development lifecycle.

This Senior Business Analyst/Product Owner leads discussions with business partners to elicit requirements and supports the development team in understanding the expected outcome and the value of the product being requested.Β  This role will create user stories, delivery roadmaps, user journey mappings and other documents, leveraging different techniques to support the delivery of the most viable product.Β  This role leads scope definition and management, and prioritization conversations and will perform analysis of processes and systems to help drive these discussions.Β  Their effective leadership and organizational skills are critical to the timely and efficient completion of maintenance, enhancement and large-scale initiatives.Β  This role will provide leadership and at times executive level summaries of product status, scope and value.

The Senior Business Analyst/Product Owner will be a champion for all established processes, including Agile Scrum and Agile methodologies, and will support the rollout of future process improvements.Β  The role will promote best practices within the technical team, and is responsible for Sprint Reviews, providing system demonstrations, incorporating feedback and preparing release communications. Additionally, their deep understanding of the specialty insurance market enables them to develop innovative solutions that address unique risks and challenges, driving overall business success. Some of the Senior Business Analyst/Product Owner responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, customers, and development teams.
  • Define and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap to development teams.
  • Conduct detailed business analysis to identify and understand the business needs of stakeholders.
  • Develop and document business requirements, personas, use cases, user journey mappings, wireframes or other needed documentation to facilitate discussions and document the product.
  • Maintain a Product Backlog that is refined, prioritized, and ready for development team consumption.
  • Ensure the Acceptance Criteria is defined for each story.
  • Work closely with development teams to assist in the design of solutions that deliver value to the end user, and to ensure timely and accurate delivery of the product.
  • Drive successful product development throughout an Agile Lifecycle for both maintenance, enhancements, and large-scale work efforts, working with both employees and vendors for delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the implementation of solutions.
  • Gather and incorporate feedback from customers and stakeholders to continuously improve the product.
  • Track and report on project progress, helping to identify and mitigate risks as needed.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing business processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and efficiencies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and remain flexible in a dynamic environment.
  • Apply industry knowledge to develop innovative solutions that address unique risks and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Utilize Agile frameworks and methodologies to manage and deliver projects.
  • Promote Agile best practices and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Build upon knowledge of the company’s business environment and how assigned business and/or service units contribute to the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Maintain current knowledge of insurance industry developments and stays updated with the latest trends and developments in the market.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.

The expertise you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in business analysis and/or product ownership.
  • Experience in Property/Casualty or specialty insurance markets required.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CBAP, CSPO, CPCU, IIA) are highly desirable.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires, but your recruiter will share more specific compensation information with you during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $96,000 – $135,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Hoboken, NJ; and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $121,000 -$141,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
